Northeast India is known for a wide range of habitats and profusion of biodiversity owing to a broad altitudinal range. A leading priority for conservationists, this region consists of rare flora and fauna, some of which are not found anywhere else in the world. North east is also home to some very interesting tribes like Buguns, Nishis, Lisus, Singphos, Nagas - each having a distinct culture and way of life. Today this region is crumbling under the influence of mining, hunting and several 'developmental' activities.
This is a place where I have experienced divine moments when one truly feels united with nature. Northeast is country within a country - so diverse and distinct is its identity. One can get a feel of everything from grasslands to tropical forests. Some places here are so dense and vast that for miles together all one can see is virgin forests. Thankfully, inaccessibility of certain areas has preserved them from being ruined by humanity.
